Pinoy female superhero Darna returns to primetime television with ABS-CBN’s contemporary recreation of the Mars Ravelo character’s origin story.
in “Mars Ravelo’s Darna,” Iza Calzado plays Leonor, the original Darna and protector of the powerful “Stone” from the alien planet of Marte who crash lands on Earth, after evading the creatures who wanted the Stone for its superpowers. Leonor assumes a human identity and has a daughter, Narda (Jane de Leon) and a son Ding (Zaijian Jaranilla), with a man who’s now deceased. For years, Narda has kept her true identity secret from her children.
Jane undergoes daily combat training with her mother on the presumption that she was being prepared to become the protector of her younger sibling, Ding. Little does she now that the Stone has chosen her to be Leonor’s successor when the time comes.
Narda discovers her mother is Darna, but doubts her own ability to succeed her.
Meanwhile, evil invaders from Marte land on Earth to confront Leonor and try to steal the stone from her.
The action-packed pilot became a trending topic on Twitter in the Philippines and worldwide, while drawing 296,334 peak concurrent live viewers on Kapamilya Online Live.
