Chairman of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), J. On Friday, Prospero de Vera III stated that he would let the legal process play out over the accusations made against his sister, a suspected communist leader.
De Vera, however, expressed his desire for his sister Adora Faye to remain in good health and safety while incarcerated in a statement.
“I have not seen her and I have not spoken to her for more than 25 years since she decided to rejoin the underground movement. I do not share her views nor support her actions,” he added.
De Vera, on the other hand, voiced support for the government of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s attempts to put an end to the communist insurgency that has claimed so many lives and damaged so much property.

Adora Faye was taken into custody at roughly 2:40 p.m., according to Philippine National Police head Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr. on Thursday. on Wednesday in Barangay Teacher’s Village East in Quezon City by officers of Police Regional Office 6 (Western Visayas), the National Capital Region Police, and the Quezon City Police District.
The Iloilo City Regional Trial Court Branch 22 has issued a warrant for Adora Faye for multiple murder and multiple attempted murder cases. She also has a second criminal case pending against her for rebellion.
Azurin claimed that the suspect also uses explosives, namely Geneva Convention-prohibited anti-personnel mines.
According to Azurin, who cited PNP documents, Adora Faye is the secretary of the center front of the Communist Party of the Philippines’ Regional Committee Panay and a staff officer of the general command of the CPP-NPA-NDF.
She is also said to be married to Jessie Licura, also known as “Ren,” a member of the CPP-NPA Central Committee.
