Blackpink’s makes history as “Pink Venom” single zooms to No. 1 in Australia

The comeback of Blackpink is off to an amazing start, and it has only just begun. With their most recent album, the South Korean girl group achieves previously unheard-of heights and demonstrates that they are only growing in popularity with each passing era. This week, they make history in one of the biggest music markets in the world.

The group’s most recent single, “Pink Venom,” becomes their first No. 1 success in Australia, but the fact that it did so is only a small part of the story. The song was immediately popular with listeners around the country, and they gave it their unwavering support. Not only showing up at No. 1, “Pink Venom” makes its premiere there. The music is currently the first from a South Korean group to open as high as a title may climb, per the ARIA charts.

Blackpink makes their second appearance in Australia’s top 10 with “Pink Venom.” They previously reached No. 8 as special guests on Lady Gaga’s promotional single “Sour Candy” off her most recent album Chromatica. They had already achieved success as lead artists by reaching the No. 12 spot with their own “How You Like That,” the main single from their previous album The Album.

Additionally, it appears that Blackpink is the first South Korean group of any kind to reach No. 1 on the Australian singles list. BTS, a fellow group of global superstars, has made several very close attempts but has never reached the top. The septet has submitted five songs, with their disco-influenced “Dynamite” serving as their best-performing release to far. Years ago, that single stalled just one rung short of taking charge.

When the search is broadened to include all South Korean artists, Blackpink joins Psy as their initial leader. When “Gangnam Style,” his avant-garde dance-pop song, briefly captivated the world in 2012, it dominated the Australian singles chart.

The lead track from Blackpink’s upcoming sophomore album, Born Pink, is “Pink Venom.” It’s anticipated that set will show up on September 16. Given that the quartet’s 2020 release The Album fell short of the top spot by one spot, it may become their first champion on the Australian albums chart.
