Netizens slam former presidential spokesman Harry Roque for “insensitive” tweet amid Typhoon Karding destruction

While Luzon was bracing to battered by the destructive rain and winds of Super Typhoon Karding on Sunday, former presidential spokesman Harry Roque tweeted a photo of himself seemingly having the time of his life at a resort in Cebu.

In a tweet that is now deleted, Roque shared a selfie, with him standing on a white sand beach, the placid sea beckoning alluringly behind him, with the caption, “Habang bumabagyo sa Manila, ang init sa Daan Bantayan, Cebu! At Kandaya Resort.” This while Karding threatened to smash through towns and rice fields, wrecking everything on its path.

Netizens decried the “insensitive” and “tone-deaf” tweet amidst the threat of a natural catastrophe.

Even Senator Win Gatchalian was chastised on social media for posting a selfie while on a date with girlfriend, actress Bianca Manalo, presumably enjoying a steaming bowl of ramen.
