DepEd allows private schools to continue blended learning after Nov. 2 deadline
The Department of Education (DepEd) on Monday said private schools may continue blended and full distance learning modes after the initial November 2 deadline. Meanwhile, the mandatory daily face-to-face classes in all public schools will push through as scheduled.
In a statement, the agency said all public schools must adhere to the full implementation of DepEd Order (DO) No. 44, except for those having “alternative delivery modes” due to calamities and disasters.
“After the said date, no public school shall be allowed to implement purely distance learning or blended learning, except for those that are expressly provided an exemption by the Regional Director, those whose classes are automatically canceled due to disaster and calamities,” it said.

The DepEd emphasized the importance of in-person classes for the holistic well-being of learners in the country, after over two months of transition since August 22, as indicated in DO No. 44.
The new order amends previous DepEd Order No. 34, which was issued last July, ordering both private and public schools to resume full face-to-face classes nationwide by November 2.
Duterte’s new order allows private schools to implement three days of in-person classes and two days of distance learning for the blended modality.
According to the amended order, private schools can have in-person classes Monday to Wednesday, and remote classes on Thursday and Friday; or have four days of in-person classes Monday to Thursday and in-person classes on Fridays. They may also continue to do full distance learning.
