Bea Alonzo obtains legal residency in Spain via golden visa route
Kapuso actress Bea Alonzo has obtained a residence permit in Spain after making a real estate investment of at least 500,000 euros (approximately P30 million) in an apartment in Madrid.
Bea shared the news during the press conference for “Start Up PH” in Cebu City. “Start Up PH,” is a Pinoy adaptation of the Korean drama in which Bea is paired with Alden Richards.
“Galing ako sa isang mahabang bakasyon – 26 days, almost a month. Kakauwi ko lang this week from Europe. The reason why I went there was because I wanted to get my Golden Visa to Spain, so am now a resident of Spain,” Alonzo announced to reporters at the event.
Bea became eligible for Spain’s Residency By Investment (RBI) program after she invested €500,000 (equivalent to P29,515,048 based on current exchange rates) in a Madrid apartment. According to the Schengen Visa website, the Golden Visa is “residence visa issued to a non-EU national who intends to make a significant investment in the Spanish economy.”
Bea had shared photos of her Madrid apartment on an Instagram post dated October 26.
With the residence permit, Bea Bea can also work legally in Europe and apply for citizenship after two years. But Bea says she’s not planning on acquiring Spanish citizenship, but admits that “at least, there is that option.”
