Netizens react to PBBM getting Gold Play Button from YouTube

The dislike button may have disappeared from YouTube, but content creators are still very much fair game on social media no matter their popularity or social standing, as demonstrated by netizens’ reaction to President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos (PBBM), Jr.’s receiving a Gold Play Button for his YouTube Channel.

In a video posted on his YouTube channel on Friday, December 23, PBBM is shown being presented the YouTube Gold Play Button, which he described as a beautiful Christmas gift.

“Tingnan naman ninyo ang napakagandang Christmas gift na natanggap ko,” he said.

The Gold Play Button is awarded to content creators when they reach 1 million subscribers.

Holding the Gold Play Button plaque, PBBM thanked the subscribers and supporters of his channel, which currently has 2.72 million subscribers.

But not everyone is clicking the Like button. Some netizens sarcastically expressed “awe” at PBBM still finding time to be a YouTube vlogger while solving the country’s ills like inflation and a broken mass transport system. Others thought getting the YouTube distinction was a rather low bar for a head of state who should go after loftier goals.
