Netizens fume over IG video of Alex Gonzaga smearing cake icing on server’s face
A Instagram story showing Alex Gonzaga smearing icing from her birthday cake on the face of a man who appears to be a restaurant staff has fueled a Twitter hate-fest against the controversial actress and YouTube vlogger, who was labeled as “rude,” “ill-mannered,” “insensitive” and “devoid of class.”
In the IG clip, Gonzaga is shown being serenaded with a birthday song while the restaurant employee is holding the cake for the celebrant to blow her candles. As soon as she has blown her candles, Gonzaga proceeded to dip her palm on the icing then smear it on the employee’s face. It is hard to tell exactly if the man found it amusing, because a face mask obscured his face. Nevertheless, netizens perceived that the guy did not find it funny and took offense on his behalf.
As of 9:00PM Manila time, four of the top trending topics on Twitter Philippines were all pertaining to the incident. Aside from “Alex Gonzaga,” other related trending topics were “Mikee,” which refers to Gonzaga’s husband Councilor Mikee Morada, “Bastos,” and “GMRC.”
Gonzaga is no stranger to controversy. Her being the sister of the sister of actress-host-vlogger Toni Gonzaga, a vocal supporter of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., wins her no favors. She is also seen as unprofessional and disrespectful towards other actors who don’t cut her any slack for her amateurish ways.
