GMA, ABS-CBN join forces to co-produce ‘Unbreak My Heart’
Longtime television network rivals GMA Network and ABS-CBN Corporation have set aside the so-called network wars in order to co-produce the teleserye titled “Unbreak My Heart.” The cast will feature Joshua Garcia, Gabbi Garcia, Richard Yap, and Jodi Sta, who are contract stars from the competing networks.
The romantic-drama series, which will be shot in Switzerland, will air on GMA in 2023 and be available on Viu, PCCW’s major pan-regional over-the-top video streaming service, in 15 other countries besides the Philippines.
The contract signing and story conference event was attended by senior executives from the three organizations under the direction of GMA Senior Vice-President for Programming, Talent Management, Worldwide, and Support Groups Attorney, Cory Vidanes, COO of Broadcast for ABS-CBN, Annette Gozon-Valdes, and Vinchi Sy-Quia, deputy country manager for Viu Philippines.
The series marks the first project of Sta. Maria with Joshua and Gabbi, who will also be paired for the first time. Meanwhile, she is set to be reunited with Yap, her former on-screen partner. The two had starred in “Be Careful With My Heart,” ABS-CBN’s immensely popular noontime drama series which aired from July 9, 2012 to November 28, 2014.
“This collaboration will really bring in opportunities not only to the networks, but for the people working in the network, for the people in the industry,” Sta. Maria said.
“I’m really proud, honored, and excited to be part of this show which is history in the making since this is the first time that two network giants will be working with each other. Of course I’m also excited to be working with Jodi again and all the other people in the cast,” Yap added.
