Vice Ganda apologizes to Karylle over It’s Showtime banter, throws shade at unnamed “Kuya”

After being called out by netizens for what they perceived as rudeness, comedian Vice Ganda admitted erring during an onscreen banter with his “It’s Showtime” co-host, Karylle. Netizens felt that Vice had been rude to Karylle in their exchange during the noontime show’s karaoke segment.

On his Twitter account, the comedian issued a statement regarding the issue.

“Oh so i am being called out. Yes i acknowledge sablay ako dun. Potah sablay again. Bawi po ako. Bawi right away.,” tweeted Vice.

In a clip that went viral on Thursday, Karylle mentions to Vice Ganda that co-host Vhong Navarro has been rehearsing a song for the show’s karaoke segment for a month only to have the same song re-assigned to someone else by Vice. The two had a little exchange about the matter.

“Vice, may request si Vhongskie. Kasi last time nagre-rehearse siya sa umaga, tapos binigay mo sa iba yung kanta niya,” said Karylle.

“Anong problema natin, Karylle?” asked Vice.

“Hindi, natatawa lang kami kasi isang buwan, pinraktis daw niya,” responded Karylle.

To which Vice retorted “O, e, di sana kinanta mo.”

“Sa bawat sulok daw ng bahay niya pinraktis niya,” pleaded Karylle.

“O, okay na yan, Karylle,” was Vice’s response, putting an end to the discussion.

Many netizens noticed and were offended by the way the comedian treated his colleague, which they saw as “rude” and “uncalled for.” They also labeled Vice as “mean” and a “bully.”

Vice Ganda later tweeted that he had apologized to Karylle even if she assured him that she wasn’t offended. Vice also clarified that he and Karylle are on good terms, and it showed in their friendly interaction on Friday’s episode of “It’s Showtime.”

On the show, Vice poked fun at the tendency of some people to make a mountain out of a molehill and see good friends fight over nothing. Vice joked that he and Karylle will have a hair-pulling fight and videotape it for the gossip-mongers.

“Mamaya magbi-video kami ni Karylle. Magsasabunutan po kami. Gusto nila ‘yon,” teased Vice.

Furthermore, Vice seemed to throw shade at somebody he called “Kuya” for sticking his nose where it doesn’t belong just to gain attention on social media.

“Yan ang bet nila. ‘Yung magkaaway tayo kunyari. Tapos maraming magla-like like para involved sila. Yes, trending din siya. Nakuha niya ‘yung gusto niya. Ikaw talaga kuya!” said Vice.

Could Vice be referring to Kuya Kim (Atienza), a former “It’s Showtime” co-host, who reacted and tweeted a message of “support” to Karylle in the height of the “rude banter” drama.

Kuya Kim had tweeted “I love you Karylle 🙂 @anakarylle” then followed it up with another tweet with the message: “@anakarylle is one of the kindest souls I know in showbiz. She will never talk negatively against anyone. I love Karylle.”

Netizens saw Kim’s tweet as a form of meddling, a way of “going in there and making it about him.”

Oh well, it’s just another day on our favorite online public square.
