Boracay named Asia’s Top Island in Conde Nast’s Readers’ Choice Awards

Boracay was once again hailed the top island in Asia in the 2022 Readers’ Choice Awards of the travel magazine Condé Nast Traveler.

The magazine’s readers voted Palawan ninth among the best 10 islands in Asia.

In addition, the Philippines was rated 30th out of the top 48 nations by Condé Nast Traveler readers.

Boracay, renowned for its white sandy beaches and crystal-clear seas, received a rating of 95.13 on the website of the US-based luxury and leisure travel publication, taking the top place.

The island outranked Bali, Indonesia, Koh Samui, Thailand, and Langkawi, Malaysia, which came in second, third, and fourth place.

Sri Lanka was ranked seventh, followed by Phuket, Thailand in fifth, Ph Quc, Vietnam in sixth, Okinawa and the Ryukyu Islands, Japan in ninth, and the Phi Phi Islands, Thailand (10th).

In a statement, Department of Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco expressed her and the agency’s gratitude for the international awards for the Philippines based on the opinion and experience of travelers from all over the world.

“We are extremely grateful for these international awards for the Philippines based on the opinion and experience of travelers from all over the world,” Garcia-Frasco said.

“As we usher in this new era of travel post-pandemic, our focus is to continue building confidence toward travel to the country by ensuring improvement in ease of access, prioritizing tourist safety and convenience, and encouraging sustainable tourism practices,” she continued

The Department of Tourism “is one with all our tourism stakeholders, from the local government units, private sector partners, and our fellowmen in celebrating these victories for the Philippines from Condé Nast Traveler,” she added.
