Transport groups seeking rush-hour “surge fee” for jeepneys
In response to the ongoing increase in oil prices, transportation company Pasang Masda announced on Monday, October 17, that it plans to impose a “spike fee” in jeepneys during rush hour.
Obet Martin, president of Pasang Masda, announced that they intend to ask the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) for permission to impose a “fuel surcharge” during rush hour beginning at 5:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Another round of fuel price hike is expected on Tuesday, Oct. 18.
Caltex, Cleanfuel, PTT Philippines, Seaoil, and Shell said gasoline prices will increase by P0.80 per liter and diesel prices by P2.70 per liter.
Meanwhile, a P2.90 rise will also be implemented on kerosene prices.
