Netizens not buying it: Alex Crisostomo says Alex Gonzaga has apologized over icing smearing incident

After drawing the wrath of nearly every netizen who had seen the viral video of Alex Gonzaga smearing a restaurant employee on his forehead with icing from her birthday cake, the actress and YouTube vlogger has apologized and patched things up with the waiter, Allan Crisostomo.

According to Crisostomo, Gonzaga personally reached out to him to apologize for the unfortunate incident.

Crisostomo’s issued his statement through his employer Florabel Resto and Catering Service in Valle Verde, Pasig. Along with an apparently candid photo of Gonzaga speaking to Crisostomo, the restaurant released a photo of the letter handwritten and signed by Crisostomo saying that Gonzaga has apologized to her and that they are now “OK.”

In his letter, Crisostomo wrote, “Last January 17, 2023 around 6:30 PM nasa work po ako. Pumunta po si Ma’am Alex kung saan po ako nagwowork. “

“Then nag apologize and nagsorry siya saken tapos konting kwentuhan at sinabi ko po sa kanya na ok na po yung nangyari. Ok na po kami,” he continued.

Gonzaga family’s publicist had earlier explained that the actress personally knew the waiter as he is frequently requested by the family for catering services. Crisostomo’s letter, however, does not appear to support the publicist’s claim.

Netizens, however, are not buying it. For one, they are questioning why Crisostomo had to write a letter of explanation when it was he who was the aggrieved party. To them, it was akin to an employee accomplishing a “quit claim” where an employee waives his/her claim or demand against the employer arising from the employment relationship.

Some legal experts had even weighed in that Crisostomo might have grounds to file a legal complaint against Gonzaga for “slander by deed.”

It’s unclear if Gonzaga has dodged a legal bullet with the release of Crisostomo’s statement, but she has her work cut out for her in terms of cleaning up her public image.
