Online mob go after James Reid over cheating rumors
It’s actor-musician James Reid’s turn to face the angry online mob after rumors resurfaced that he had cheated on then-girlfriend and half of the JaDine loveteam Nadine Lustre with Filipino-British model Issa Pressman, leading to the breakup of the two in November 2019.
Social media went hysterical when Pressman on March 17 posted a series of photos attending Harry Styles’s concert together and another photo of them standing in front of a mirror while holding hands.
From “incel” to “leech” to “douche,” the epithets attached to Reid by numerous Twitter users could make a grown man cry, but the Careless Music founder and chief executive officer chose to address the rumors via Instagram and Twitter.
“I’m only gonna say this once. The past rumors about Issa are just that, rumors,” he began. “I usually never address bashers or get involved in hate culture but I feel the need to speak up now because this is the start of something beautiful. And I’m not gonna let anyone take that from me.”
“To my fans, all you need to know from me is that I’m the happiest I’ve ever been,” he said.
Netizens didn’t mince any words in describing Reid and his supposed cheating behavior.
Pressman became the target of online bashing when rumors circulated that she was the third party behind the breakup of Reid and Lustre in 2019. However, Reid and Lustre had come to Pressman’s defense, with Lustre tagging Pressman and her sister Yassi in a comment saying, “love u both.”
Lustre has since moved on and is now in a relationship with French-Filipino entrepreneur Christophe Bariou.
Reid and Pressman have yet to officially deny or confirm rumors that they are a couple.
