GenSan highway tradegy claims10 lives, injures 6 others

Ten people died and six were injured from a horrific collision in a General Santos City highway between a ten-wheeler hauler truck, a commuter van carrying passengers from Davao City and a Ford Raptor pick-up truck on Thursday, Agosto 4, at around 3:00 pm.
According to a report by the General Santos City Police Office, one of the rear tires of the commuter van exploded while it was traversing the Davao-GenSan Highway near the boundaries of Barangay Batomelong and Barangay Tinagacan. The van driver lost control of the vehicle, which ten slammed onto the Wing Van truck that was going the other way. A Ford pickup truck was smashed as a result of the collision.
A video from the scene of the accident shows horrific images of bloodied bodies sprawled on the highway, while the van looks completely totaled. Seven people died on the spot, while three more succumbed to their injuries at the hospital.
The fatalities were identified as Lalaine Joy Labang, Mylene Donaldo, Carlo Advincula, Regie Pag-ong, Ryan Jay Niñez, Alfredo Abatayo, Salvacion Masugbod and Rose Ann Macpal. Van driver Noel Podadera and truck driver Cesar Andaya also perished in the accident.
Police are still investigating the tradegy.
