PBBM designates VP Sara as OIC while on state visits

Vice President Sara Duterte has been appointed officer-in-charge (OIC) by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. (PBBM) while he is gone for his official visits to Indonesia and Singapore from September 4 to 7.

Duterte was appointed OIC by Special Order No. 75, which was signed by Executive Secretary Victor “Vic” Rodriguez. She will “take care of the day-to-day operations in the Office of the President

Duterte was also given the responsibility of overseeing “the general administration of the Executive Department.”

When the president is away from the Philippines from September 4–7, 2022, Duterte may “act for and on behalf of the President, except on matters that the President is required by the Constitution to act in person, during this time that the President is outside the Republic of the Philippines from 04-07 September 2022.”

Duterte can receive assistance from all government departments, agencies, and other entities in carrying out her duties as OIC.

A further clause in the order specifies that “all acts of the Vice President for and on behalf of the President pursuant to this Order shall be deemed acts of the President unless disapproved or reprobated by the President.”
