Sen. Imee Marcos revives Nutribun feeding program on birth anniversary of ex-Pres. Ferdinand Marcos
On the occasion of former President Ferdinand E. Marcos’s 105th birth anniversary, Senator Imee Marcos has revived her late father’s nutribun feeding program by distributing Nutribuns to children in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte, on September 11.
Over five hundred children were in attendance with ages ranging from 3 to 5 years old.
The enhanced Nutribun was also launched yesterday in two separate locations in Tanay, Rizal and in Consolacion, Cebu to kick-off Senator Imee’s 120-day feeding program from September to November.
The initiative was intended to help around 3,000 kids from the three provinces.

The program advisory said, “Ang enhanced Nutribun ay fortified with malunggay, kalabasa at iba pang masustansyang sangkap.”
The Municipal Social Welfare Department, Barangay Health Workers, and National Nutrition Council all worked together to implement the program.
The Philippine Daily Inquirer’s tweet about Sen. Imee’s Nutribun distribution received a flurry of responses, with some netizens dismissing her Nutribun program as a ploy to distort history by having the Marcos administration take credit for a USAID program that was meant to combat widespread hunger among school children in the 1970s-80s.
Others welcomed the return of the nutribun program because they believed the objective is well-meant as long as the buns themselves were not “politicised.”
